At Ihe meeting ot retailers ol Palmerston North ibis morning, the matter ot binning new Kelliilers' Association was brought up by Mr M. Millar, who slated that an association had been lormcd some imte ago, hut had become detmiel, and ho would like to know more about il. • The secretary (Mr W. McKenzie) said that the advertisements in connection -with the old association had nearly swamped the funds. 1 Mr T. Stubbs pointed mil that an association had been formed in Auckland, where a, committee, representative ol the various sections of business, did all (he business of the association. He had been told that the scheme worked very well. Mi N. 11. Sinclair said that there had been a Half-Holiday Association m Palmerston North, but its members had nm worked well together. He thought imp should do better if they remained as they were at present, and meet as retailers only, without forming an association. Mi Millar replied that unity was sirengili. Thev should form an association and then ihev would he able to secure Innds. and advertise their desire regarding opening and closing their shops. Mr Sinclair moved that they meet as retailers only. , Mr Millar moved an amendment that thev form an association. The chairman (Mr das. Wallace) was ol Ihe. opinion that an association would have some standing the town. The amendment was earned, and the election of otiieers resulted as follows; President.
