ABOLITION OPPOSED
LONDON, March IB
Mr Austen Chainhcrlain, in the [louse of Commons, said the abolition ot the Air Ministry would be a fatal and retrograde step. The Govern men I had decided that the air force, firstly, must lie autonomous in the matter ot administialion and education ; secondly, in the case of defence against air raids, the navy and army must play a second role; and thirdly, in Ihe ease ot military and naval operations the air force must be* in strict subordination to the General and Admiral in supreme commands.— and N.Z. cable.
