CROQUET TOURNAMENT.
CONCLUDING PHASES
Tho croquet tournament promoted by the Mannwatti Croquet Association, which commenced on Tuesday last in Palmerston North, concluded this afternoon. The four competitions were open to any players of clubs alliliaied to tho .association, but the entries were disappointing. Nevertheless, some very good contests were, witnessed, tin onghont the tourney. and the winners have well earned ijieir titles. The chief event of the meeting Was, die Abinawatn open ehtiinilion.'hip), whielt was annexed by Mr,4 A(<L’ae. The champion played except ionally well during the tournament and hep victory'over Mrs Baxter for the honour was a. brilliant one. a nee of Mr, Airs, and Aliss Robertson. In the handicap doubles Air and .Miss: Robertson were the •winners, defeating Mrs Robertson and Airs Mcßae. In the handicap singles,, B grade, .Miss Robertson curried oIV the title after a tough battle with Airs AI tins ford. 'I hose three games were decided yesterday, leaving only one, composition to be decided this afternoon, no play having taken place this morning on account of (lie condition of the lawns after tho wet wealher. This last compel it ion is the handicap singles. A grade, the contestants in the final being Airs Robertson and Alls.-, Robertson. Thus the Robertson family will have secured three of die four tides in die tournament. The following are the details of ihe semi-finals:
