FORESTERS' LODGE.

CHRISTMAS TRKE NIGHT. The Foresters' Hall was full of 'nappy faces last evening when the eighth annual . hrisln.as tree night promoted by the lodge materialised and proved a big success. 'I lie Foresters were the first of the local friendly societies to inaugurate this kind of function and, so enjoyable did it prove, that others quickly followed suit. Last evening's entertainment was in everv respect successful, the al tendance numbering over 400, of whom 300 were children. An excellent programme of musical items filled t'.ie first portion of the evening acceptably. I lie big event took plate at 9 p.m.. when Father Christmas arrived in his full regalia. Vinid the delighted shouts of the youngsters, he forthwith proceeded to distribute with ;i sennrous hand the toys which adorned ll line Christinas tree, every child receiving a suitable gift. This portion of the programme occupied some time, but at length Fattier Christmas retired, and a tasty supper was dispensed to young and old. Afterwards dancing was commenced, and continued till a- late hour. The entertainment was in every way creditable to the promoters- Mr A. J. Yortl and officers of the lodge—who worked hard to make it I lie success it undoubtedly was. The following contributed to the programme: Dances bv the "Mack Sennetl _ Girls' (Misses Constance Kavanagh, Kathleen Shoal, Rose Densoti, Trevc Cameron) and Misses Phyllis Torphy and Pratt; songs, Mioses Moua Gillies.' I). Levy. Wilkinson and .Master F.vatis; recital ions. Miss P. Torpv; duet, .Master Paul and Miss Mvrtle Paul. Mrs Kear plaved the accompaniments. Music for dancing was supplied bv Mr 1.1 Paul.
