AMERICA AND THE LEAGUE.
SYMPATHY WITH THE ALLIES. WASHINGTON, April 3. M. Stephen Luzanne, a member of tho Viviani delegation, has sent a cable to Lo Matin, of which lie is editor, to jhe effect Hint the United States will ratify neither tho Versailles Treaty ’ nor the League of Nations’ covenant, and that Senate, will adopt the Knox resolution for a separate peace with Germany. M. Vivinni now seems tc consider tho Knox resolution in a different light, since he knows it'.will express sympathy with tho. Allies’ altitude towards Germany, and will promise that America "'ill intervene in the event of the peace of Europe being again threatened, but some opposition amongst the senators is now developing towards the Knox resolution. There is a feeling that it may be held up by the Foreign Relations’ Committee until the reparations question has been settled.—A. and N.Z. cable.
