Private advices have been received from London to the effect that the demand for butter lias increased with the reduction of the retail price (says tb o Wellington Post). The estimated increase in consumption is 2d to 50 per cent. . Government cheese- is being sold m the United Kingdom at Id perpmmd or more reduction on retail prices. It IS stated that this fall ill price is the result of the Government's inducement to traders to reduce heavy holdings estimated to amount to 8500 'toua.
