SATURDAV’S MATCHES
The Saturday cricket competition was ad vauced another step forward on Saturday afternoon. Ihe wicket was; dry -and keen, and the batsmen for the most part had a day old. The wind, however, had to be contended with. High School tried conclusions with Midland. Iho latter team raised 179 by their lift innings, and High School at the call of time had lost, tom wickets for 190, therefore, there does not leave much room for doubt as to the winning team. Cullen (65) and Johnstone (38) wore the principal scorers for Midland, while Loot (105 not out) took tho hatting honours of the school loam. The match between R.S.A. . and- Public Service concluded with the lormer team holding tho lead. The' latter team commenced -their second innings better, however, losing one wicket for 67 runs. Mail’ (62) and Perrin (57) were the best batsmen mi the soldiers’ side, while Liddell (44) and Finnerly (13) were the'only men who got into double figures for Public Service. .
