PACIFIC ISLANDS TREATY.
Received January 31, 10 a.m. TOKIO, Jan. 29. Replying to .interpellations in the Diet Viscount Uchida stated that negotiations were proceeding with Britain to secure the equal treatment of coloured peoples in the South Pacific Islands Treaty. Clauses dealing with the islands south of the Equator had not yet been interpreted. Japan favoured a policy which would ensure equal opportunity for Japanese and British and desired to respect the mandate administrations south of tho Equator. A. and N.Z, cable.
