Averill, the Anglican Bishop of Auckland, who has returned from his trip abroad. The Bishop did not suggest that tho conference had found a solution of tho muchdiscuased question of church union, but ho did contend that it could not now bp said that the Church of England had not made every effort to solve it. He explained that the bishops had acknowledged on behalf of the church that iU clergy would be willing to accept any form of commission which the nonepiscopal churches liked' to prescribe in order to_ make their, ministry acceptable to non-episcopal congregations. In return tho Anglican clergy would, without throwing any reflection on ■'their previous ministry, be willing to accept for their ministers, episcopal ordination so that their ministers might be acceptable to tho people of the Church of England. Bishop Av-cnll said tho conference could not have dealt with tho question more seriously than it did. He felt that they were-being guided by God's spirit, and had found something that would bo really useful towards union. He said it was remarkable how men of very opposite views in tho conference had agreed to tho proposals. ,
