Per Press Association. OPOTIKI. Feb. 19 The steamer Ngatiawa, when crossing the bar at live o’clock yesterday, became stranded on the western spit,. Ellorls to ie lloat her were unsuccessful. '1 he vessi I is now almost high and dry at. low water. The male passengers were landed on the beach last, night, hut the lady passengers are, still aboard awaiting low water in daylight. Horses for tho races to morrow aboard the vessel were landed. The Ngatia.wa and another vessel have been sinii larly stranded previously. The weather is showery for tho agri cultural show to-day.
