Al l* T. M. Wilford, M.P., is at present* m a visit to Palmerston North. Mr W. S. II ampson, accountant, of Ni l son. was found dead in ids office last week, 110 had been a sufferer from heart trouble. Mr G. 11. Holford, of Christchurch, has received advice that 11.M.5. Samson, in which vessel his father (Captain George b Holford) was engaged on Admiralty work, has been posted at Lloyd’s as having bci n iost. She left Plymouth on November 9. and was last spoken off Capo Finisterro on November 26. Captain Holford was for twenty years in the Union Company’s service, and was master of the Takapuna, the lolna, and other well known steamers. For a time ho was harbourmaster at New Plymouth. He took to the sea again dnrii the war, and served on Admiralty work in the North Sea and other waters.
