FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

There was a large attendance at (lie meeting of the Orient Lodge, 1.0.0. F., last,night, N.G. Bro. R. Jordan presiding. Officers for the ensuing term were installed as followsN.G., Bro. J. M. Bell; V.G., Bro. H. Thompson; P.S., Bro. D. F. Smillie; R.S., Bro. 11. J. Webb; treasurer, P.G. Bro. F. Buck; conductor, P.G. Bro. Harris; chap/ain, Bro. letter; warden, P.G. Bro. A. Miller; LG., Bro. Dalton: R.S.N.G., Bro. J. Ax; L.S.N.G., Bro. J. Fahey: R.S.S., Bro. R. LTemaine; L.S.S., Bro, Pascoo; R.S.V.G., Bro. K. Thorburn; L.S.V.G., Bro. L. Thorburn. The installing officer was D.D.Q. Mas tec Bro. D. F. Smillie. Visitors wore present from the Pyramid Lodge (Wanganui), Kiwitea Lodge (Foilding), and Waikato Lodge. One candidate was initiated, ' and live candidates for membership wore proposed.

At the conclusion of the lodge business supper was provided and a number of toasts wore honoured. Items towards a concert programme wore contributed by ■Bros.- Davis, Rotter, Fahey, Thompson, (Tremaine and Harris. A presentation of to P.G. diploma was made to P.G. Bro. F. Buck as a piark of respect of his [brother officers. The various toasts were

isponded to by P.G. Bro. Brewster (Waiato Lodge), N.G. BrO. Mathieson (Kiwifa Lodge, Foilding), P.G. Bro. Hawtry Pyramid Lodge, Wanganui). The IiD.G.M., Bro. Smillie, stated that all lo lodges of the district had increased in membership and funds, and that the Or--6r was the soundest in New Zealand.
