The Board of .Trade returns show that imports for. December wore £169,000,000;' exports, £90,000,000; increases of £53,000,000 and £52,000.000 respectively, compared with • December, 1918. The imports for 1919 were £1.632.000,000, and the exports £798,000,000, representing increases of £315.000,000 and £297,000,000 compared with 1918. The principal increases for the year in imports were food £142,000,000, and raw materials £IBB,OOO- - of which £40,000,000 were expended on cotton, and £65,000,000 on wool The increases in exports were, coal £40,0t)U,000 manufactures £225,000,000, including S6O 000,000 worth of cotton goods and textilea and £48,000,000 worth of woollens.
