THE ATTACK ON LORD FRENCH

The police have arrested the barman of an hotel at Ashtown, named Kelly, whence Savage hastily departed prior to the attack on Lord French. The police are reticent regarding the charge against jjhe barman. Kelly has now been deported to England. No charge has so far been formulated against him.
SINN FEIN ATTACKS ON POLICE., Australian-New Zealand Cable Association LONDON, Jan. 7. F'fty armed men attacked Drumlish police barracks in County Longford during the night. Five defenders repulsed the attack until the military arrived in motorcars. Another determined attack, lasting two hours, was made on Roundstone barracks, County Calway, in which 200 Sinn Feiners. were engaged. The police made a vigorous defence and after the Sinn Feiners had dispersed, pursued and captured two attackers. Owing to night marauding, Dublin business men are employing a civil patrol to protect premises and properties.
