An important inter-State conference of producers is considering the establishment of a wholesale co-operative federation, representing tho whole of Australia. It is intended that tho Federation shall act on behalf of tho affiliated societies in the wholesale distribution of Australian products en foreign markets Mr Il'ioton. manager of the New Zealand Farmers' Wholesale Federation, attended tho conference, with the object of describing the movement in New Zealand. The principal business was the preparation of the memoranda and the articles of association so that registration may be effected early in February when active operations will commence. Negotiations will follow for the purchase of three large organisations—the Farmers' Co-operative Wholesale Federation of New Zealand, tho Federated Farmers' Co-operative Association of South Africa, and the Australian Producers' Wholesale Co-operative Federation. It arranged for preliminary investigations to be made by representative cooperative men in London, with a view to establishing the federation there, for the dual object of buying and selling. The first •issue of shares will be 3000 at £lO, the subscription to be confined to those companies engaged in the distribution of primary proi ducts. 1
