Tho report of the administration of tho Australian G;O.C. fund since September 1 when it was handed over from headquarters shows that tho Board of Control restricted its use to relieve necessitous _ cases of. unmarried mothers. Thov fund in September amounted to £2449. The Board has since investigated 368 cases and approved of 143 applications. It rejected 225 and distributed' £7OO. At least 90 per cent, of the applicants wcro women of clean reputation. Whorever possible the soldiery responsible was paraded. A large proportion of the rejections were due to the manner in. which the soldier* offered to shoulder the responsibility. In no instance was there an attempt at evasion.
