EARTHQUAKE IN MEXICO.
MANY DEAD REPORTED.
TWO VILLAGES DESTROYED

- Scores arc reported to have been killed by a violent earthquake, which affected many parts of Mexico. The centre of the disturbance is believed to bo near the volcano Orizaba. The State of Vera. Cruz suffered iho greatest damage. Wild scenes of panic were enacted here. Many natives rqshod to the churches, where they prayed A similar panic occurred at Toluca, Cueranavca and Puebla. Received January 6, 9.20 a.m. MEXICO CITY. Jan. 5. The earthquake shock was felt in ten States. It destroyed 2 villages. Several hundred deaths arc reported. The effects of the quake were felt 500 miles distant at Orizaba, eighteen miles south-west of the volcano Citlaltepetl near Vera Cruz. A theatre crowd became panic-stricken and many were injured while attempting to escape Manv dead are reported at Vera CruA
