Much fun for the onlookers was afforded by the competitors in the sack race. Mr To in Lynch was the winner, and he also ca,'mo in first in the bicycle race. The event of the day, judging by the interest' shown by the spectators, was a boxing match between the “Taranaki Kid” and the “Bell Bird.” Both men were in good condition, and somewhat to the surprise of the onlookers “Taranaki Kid” skied the towel after the seventh round. Only two competitors entered for the high, jump—Messrs Kirkwood and Dwyer, who carried off honours equally. The chopping competition was won by Barney 1 Lucas.
