RECOGNITION OF TEACHERS' SERVICES.
(Per Pbkss Association.) WELLINGTON. Jan. 3. . The vexed question of the special recognition of tl.e seblces of. teachers in bach'-. Il'nek schools was discussed at the education conference 1 to-day. The subject, was mtroSed by Mr J. L. Wilson, of Grey who moved: "That, when a. new schedule, oi naiades is being framed, the Department bo asked to make ex Ira grants to teachers in out of way places." ■ One speaker pointed, out that teachers troing to Samoa Were .granted special al-. lowanee. and he urged that teachers m hack-block schools should alsq receive recognition of their special services in addition to what small recognition had now been 81 Mi9S Ccia'd (Wellington) said that she considered an-education board should be made responsible for the provision of board in back-block schools, and if it were unable to do so another position should be found tor the teacher. ~-.. . . The motion was carried unanimously.
