OFFICERS FOR THE LAND.
AN AUSTRALIAN SCHEME.

A-meeting of ex-service officers at'the Colonial Institute resolved to draw up~ a scheme to secure suitable land in Australia for the purpose of training officers for agricultural pursuits. It is' understood that grants will be obtained from certain national funds for the purpose: Mr. J. D. Connolly, Agent-General for West Australia, has brought under notice the suitableness.of West Australia for the initial experiments, and promises to consult his Government on the question of obtaining an area of improved land to .establish a training farm for men who are likely to avail themselves of..the training, arid who possess a small amount of capital and are able to take up land when the necessary instruction is completed.
