" Tho New Zealand athletic, cyclo and motor-cycle championship meeting opened to-day under very favourable weather conditions at the Park racecourse. The attendance was 4000. This is the first championship meeting since the Auckland event in 1913. Competitors were present from ajl parts .of the Dominion. All events were New Zealand championships, unless stated otherwise (ono lap equal to one mile seventy-nine yards). The results were: Motoring.—-New Zealand Heavy-weight CliiifrpioHship (15 laps).—P. Coleman (Palmerstoit .North) 1, G. Powell (Gisboine, 2, L hinntchsta (Palmorston North) 3. Only starters. Won by 400 yds. Time, 14mm Poverty Bay Light-weight Championship-. -11. Jones (Gisborne) 1. W. Davy (Giaborne) came first, but was disqualified on the -round of crossing while turning a cor-, ner. Jones' time was 6mm 30 2 ; sseo. Motorcycle Opoii Handicap, in laps (not championship).-!'.
