ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

Tlio (lentil occurred suddenly at Auckland on Wednesday afternoon of Mrs Fcjina tfoclge, aged 48, of One-tee Hill. Mrs Hodge visited her next-door\ieigli-botir, and complained of illness. Seeing that deceased was seriously ill, Mrs Dalle n summoned u doctor,"but Mrs Hodge collapsed in the meantime,'and when tlio doctor arrived he pronounced life extinct. Deceased's husband is Mr 0. K. J lodge, chief mechanician of the Auckland Telephone Exchange. The death occurred at / Uk' Hamilton Hospital on Wednesday of Air Walter Cunningham Marr, a young returned Soldier, who mot'with, a shooting accident at Koniakorau the day previous. At the inquest evidence was givon'to the P.ffcct that, in company with Thomas Verner and Ernest Davis, the deceased went to shoot an injured steer; As the party approached, the animal tried to get through a fence, and the deceased went found the fence to despatch it with an axe, leaving the others on the Siime .side of the fence as the steer. The coroner found that death was due' to gunshot wounds accidentally received. Deceased, who was 28 years of age and had served lour | years at the front, leaves-a ytfnng wilej and a baby.
