DOWN THE LINE. (From Odb Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Dec. 30. The annual prize-giving ceremony and social ro-union in connection with Uic Anglican Sunday Schools of Otuki took place on Monday night. The Rev. G. I l '. Retrio, M.A., stated that it was very gratifying to know that the schools had kept well up to the standard of past years —in fact had never been better, while it was also pleasing to know that parents sent their children regularly to school. The Rev. Mr Petrie made feeling reference to the loss of Miss Ruth Swahoy,-one of the brightest imd most promising girls of the school, and whose memory was going to be perpetuated by two prizes being-given- — one for the best boy and the other lor the Rest girl; to be awarded by the votes of scholars. The test would embrace the best behaved, the most Christian-like, the most punctual, the most thoughtful, respectful and manly child. The speaker urged all to do their best to win such a prize, advised them when they promised to do a tiling to keep their word, not be a sneaker, but he open, frank and loyal. The Rev. Mr Petrie then announced that a valuable prize (offered by Mrs J. S. Polo) would be given for the best mannered bo\ in the upper classes, after which lie spoke highly of the lino work of Mrs Swahey, Misses Graiifield and Adsotr and Mr Kershaw, and announced the fact that Miss Kirlc'was shortly joining the teaching staff.
