Tho complete returns show that the parly representation of 19 districts has been changed. In addition, two of tho retiring members were re-elected as Independents. The Government won the three now seats in tho North Island —Roskill, Rotorua, and Rangitikei—and won eight seats previously held by members of tho Opposition Party— Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay "Wairarapa, Kaiapoi, Tomuka, Waitaki, Wallace, and Awarua. The Opposition won three acata previously held by Government _ supporters— Stratford, Nelson • and Wakatipu—and one previously held by a Labour member^-Wel-lington South. . Tho Labour Party won five seats previously hold by Opposition members— Auckland Central, Auckland West, Buffer, Avon, and Christchurch South —and one previously hold by an Independent Labour member— Grey Lynn. A Moderate Labour candidate won a seat iroviously hold by a member of tho official Labour Party. The representatives in tho last Parliament of tho three South Island electorates extinguished by tho revision of boundaries, wore candidates for adjoining districts. Mr W. J. Dickie (Opposition), tho retiring mem. her for Sclwyn, was defeated in Ashburton, and Mr R. Scott (Government), retiring member for Otago Central, was defeated in Wakatipu, Mr H. E. Holland (Labour), who sat for Grey in the last Parliament, won the Buffer scat, previously hold by tho late Mr Colvin. Mr 11. G. Ell (Opposition), who previously represented Christchurch South, was defeated in Lyttelton.
