HAWKE CUP MATCH. • (Peb Pbess Association.) GISBORNE, Dec. 27. The Hawke cup match between Wanganui (challengers) and Poverty Bay (hold-, era) concluded to-day in squally weather, with the result that Poverty Bay retains the cup. THE PLUNKET SHIELD. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 27. The Plunket ( shield match, Wellington v. Canterbury, was continued to-day. The wicket was not affected by yesterday’s rain, and the day was perfect. Canterbury, in reply to Wellington’s 259, made 350 (Patrick 27, Blunt 73, Sandman 35, Evans 13, Thomas (not out) 88, Whitta 62, Read 14, McEwcn 32). Brice took one wicket for 56, Garrod* one for 58, McGirr two for 34, Lambert four for 103, Morris oho for 29 and Hutchings one J'pr 27. Wellington, when stumps were diyuvn, had lost eight wickets for 97 runs (Baker 15, Dind 31, Lambert, not out, 18).
VICTORIA v. NEW SOUTH WALES',

Tn the cricket match, Victoria v. New South Wales, the former had made 376 for the loss of six wickets when rain stopped play.-
At Wanganui on Saturday the representative cricket match between Manawatu and Wanganui was concluded. Manawatu's first innings closed for 352, Wanganui replying with 302, of which Blamires made 160. In their second innings Manawatu had lost three wickets for 150 runs when tho game concluded, and they thus won on the first innings by 50 runs. In Manawat'u's second innings Miller made 39, Eglinton 37, Mullins 0. E. Dodder (not out) 35, Lcet (not out) 28.
