Huklios, Federal Prune Minister, in returning thanks at Bendigo on the formal declaration of his election, said that the Nationalist victory meant a defeat for disloyalty, direct action, Bolshevism, the "go-slow" policy, and all that was mean, paltry, and selfish in our midst, hut not the defeat of- the Labour cause, which was as sacred as ever to those who had fought for,it. lie claimed that the Nationalists had a clear majority of their own in the new Parliament, and declared that tlto Nationalist clean sweep of the Senate was too appalling to mention.
