ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Dec. 26, A motor accident which resulted in the death of a Maori, Moana Ilemi lototu, occurred this evening on the Kaiti bench. A motor car containing eight natives was going up the beach, and when near the Cook Monument one wheel came oil. 'the car overturned and Tctoru was pinned underneath. lie was alive when extracted, but died soon after his admission to the Cook Hospital. Two other natives were hurt, but not seriously. AUKLANI), Dec. 24. A motor car, occupied by G. A. Smith, Inspector tor the Mutual Life Office, his wife, daughter, and two nieces, capsized on Brown's Bay read last night, Mr Smith’s jaw was fractured in two places, and he ieccired other sevcrop'njuries. Mrs Smith received a double fracture of the collarbone and concussion, and Miss Smith slight concussion. The nieces were not' hurt. ' TIMARU, Doc. 26. On Christmas Day, as two returned soldiers with English brides were motoring to a, picnic at Pleasant Point,' at a sharp turn the car skidded, a front tyre burst, and the »ar capsized, pinning one woman beneath end killing her. Deceased win/ the wife of F. Ccmeron, an employee of the Timaru Gas Co., who had returned only six weeks ago. He was driving the car, and was dazed bv the fall. The other two in the back seat were thrown out, but were unhurt.
