In the Plunket Shield match, Wellington v. Canterbury, at Christclulirch, the former made .239 in their first innings and the latter had scored 29 for the loss of no wickets when rain stopped play. WANGANUI v. POVERTY BAY. (Peb Pbess Association.) GISBORNE, Dec. 26. The Hawke Cup match between Wanganui (challengers) and Poverty Bay (holders) opened to-day in fine weather. The wicket was good, but the field rough. Wanganui batted first, and hit up 275_ in about four and a-half hours, the principal 'corere being Wood (62), Meuli (58), Orton (43).
