Among the recent departures for England was Alt' Oscar Borer, 8.U., who is . well-known in Manawafu and 1 llaugitikei i districts. He has had a remarkable schol- I astic career, and is seeking civil engineering experience in Europe and America.'’ 1 Twenty-four years of ago, Mr Borer' was »I educated at To Aro School, Wellington,'(l whore he was dux for two years, receiving i I the gold medal and gaining a Junior' Board Scholarship in 1906. Ho entered Wellington' College in 1908 with the Junior? National Scholarship, kind" distinguished *•" himself in various activities, gaining ; sov- f oral form prizes and special memorial v prizes. Ip 1913 he proceeded to Victoria University : College as holdfir of a Turn- \ bull Scholarship, and in T914 entered the , School of Engineering, Canterbury C6I- ‘ lege, whore lie gained the engineering e\‘ : > liipitidn. (He took a lending part in college societies, being president of the union and for three years president of tho Engin- j'i coring Society. In addition to the C Bachelor of Engineering degree, he. was 1 awarded the Engineering T’riiveiling, v Scholarship, and I intends to seek general constructional work. For 18 months he has boon with the hydro-electric department on location of. transmission linfis and the lay-out of the Mangahao sohemo.
