News was received iu Raetilii on Friday evening last that a young Maon lad ha'd been found dead in a whare, hear the Mangawhcro bridge, dead, appaidntly,' through a wound received from d firearmi , FroAi Hvhat can be gathered it ap])ears that the father, Hari Tairei, returned from work on Thursday evening, about six o’clock, and on entering .the. Avihare(discovered his son lying dead face downwards on the floor. The hoy had with' his mother spent portion of the day at the adjacent pa, and httor in the afternoon -was sent homo in order to light the fire for the evening meal. 'fids- was;the last time lie was apparently seen alive, and was on good terms with the rest of the family. . ’ ' Mvstery surrouflds the whole nft air, as the wound is supposed to have been caused by a revolver shot, and the iovolver has been found in a box noiu whore -the boy breathed his last. On Saturday last an inquest was forrhally opened by Mr J. J. Pilkiugton, the only evidence being taken being that of Hari Titirei who stated that lie had seen the body, and recognised it .a* that of his son, Riingihopukm. On knocking off work on tlio evening <d Dthleinhi-r 18th; he went home and 'found the wliarc. door partly open. Upon entering he saw, the. body lying face, downwards on(the floor, quite dead. Tbe last time be bad seen deceased alive was about 4.30 o’clock on tbe morning of the' 18th. Tie whs then' quite well and apparently in good health.
