All candidates presented at tho- local school for proficiency examination were successful in obtaining certificates, as follows: Albert Hart, Elsie Hart, Francis Kershaw, Gladys Rout, Evelyn Trass, and Eileen Williams. The Town Hall was nicely decorated for the Methodist Sunday School anniversary concert lust Tuesday evening, when therewas a largo attendance. Rev. Gatman carried out the duties of chairman, 'and in thanking those who had assisted in the success of the ente'rta.inment especially mentioned Miss Searlo and Misses Hopkirjcj Mr Hopkirk read tho annual report, which showed the Sunday school'was in a healthy condition. The programme, which was composed entirely of items by the children, was thoroughly enjoyed by the large audience, who wero not slow in allowing their appreciation' of the successful efforts of tho children. I A camp for members of tie- Church of .England bible classes in the Wellington district is to be held here from December 29th to January 10th. The camp will bo in charge of Rev. T. F. Taylor, a returned cfiopicin ot the N.Z.E.F., who will conduct tho services in St. Mary's Church on Sunday, January 4. The monument erected al, Hiwipui in memory of the boys who lost their Jives during the great war, is a decided credit to the residents of that district. So far our district appears to be one of tho very few which has made 'iio move in rlio direction of a monument to the, memory of our boys who laid down their lives. Tho Domain has been booked for the combined Methodist picnic on January 22.
