SLAUGHTERMEN CAUSE TROUBLE
Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 22. The retail butchers are unable to obtain rush orders from the city abattoirs,' owing to the refusal of the permanent slaughtermen to work with extra casuals. The situation arises out of the refusal of the men's demands for substantial increases on the piece-work rates ruling in tho freezing 'industry. Many milk lambs have been turned into paddocks and aro going back in quality, while mutton and lamb are likely to bo scarce at Christmas.
