CRICKET.
The last local matches for the year 1919 were played on the Sportsground on Saturday afternoon. Although the wickets in booth eases were good, the wind hampered play, and near the end of the match between Railway and Midland a bad light gave the teams much trouble. Two record scores— Greer 128, and McLaehlan who retired with a score of 108—wore put up for this year. RAILWAY v. MIDLAND.
In this match Railway batted first, and were not finally disposed of before the score had reached 310 runs, tho highest individual scorer being G. Greer with 128. During play Lye made a couple of brilliant catches, and in doing so brought Greer's chance of further scoring'Jin that part of the game to a close. Taken all round, play was of a higher standard than tho score suggests. Midland considerably felt the absence of two of their players, and should do better in their next innings. OLD BOYS v. U.S.A. The first part of the mutch R.S.A. v. Old Boys was played on Saturday, and according to the score, the Old Hoys' win scorns assured.
