YOUTH'S DEATH SENTENCE.
At Surrey Assizes, Guildford, William Nelson Adams was found?guilty of murdering Gobrge Jones (60), lodging at Blackfriars, by stabbing him it Sutton, whithei tho two had walked from London. The case will be remembered by reason of the fact that prisoner, who is a lad, had'made statements to the effect that deceased asked him to stab him because he was worried about income tax. Dr. r Griffith] medical officer at Brixton gaol, expressed the opinion that prisoner was simple-minded and backward, but he would not certify for his detention as a lunatic. Pie knew the differonce between right isj'nd wrong. Tlie jury recommended prisoner to mercy. Judge Darling passed sentence of death.
