' ENGINEER'S ESTIMATES. PROPOSED LOAN,OO r £IOO.OOO TO COME BEFORE i RATEPAYERS, ■ Further consideration of the proposed electric lighting and tramways scheme in Palmerston North was given by the Borough Council at last night's meeting, when Mr F. Black, cicatrical,. engineer, attended. Mr Black then submitted the following estimates and alternative estimates:—

On tho motion of the Mayor,, seconded i by Cr. Graham, it was resolved that as Mr \ Black has now completed sufficiently the plans and specifications in ■ respect of the; tramway and electric lighting scheme the Order-in-Council required under' the Tramways Act be applied for, 'ajso tho eleotric lines license.

A long discussion took placo and it was decided on the. motion of Cr. Crabb that a loan be placed before the ratepayers for tho sum of £IOO,OOO, being the amount, required for the completion of the scheme. Further, on the motion of the Mayor, it was decided that the Council should proceed with tho printing of tho debentures covoring the amount already sanctioned by the ratepayers concerning tho tramway and electric lighting loan of £86,000 and that steps be" taken to raiso tho amount.
