Dunedin is suffering from a shortage of oornent. The manager of one company states that the shortage is clue to the deficient supplies of bituminous coal for burning cement clinkers. The Dominion s ocmenf mills now bperatmg have plants that arh capable of producing from 16,000 to 20,000 tons |>er month and the demand throughout the Dominion is about 8500 tons a month. Owing chiefly to the coal shortage the' cement mills have only been able to supply 700 tons per month since Juno last and the accumulation of the shortage has now made the position serious. A man about 45 accomplished a remarkn. bio dive into Darling Harbour from Pvrmont Bridge, Sydney, recently. A person who was walking across the bridge was astonished to see the man climb on to the parapet near the centre of tho_ bridge, hesitate for a few seconds, and without divesting himself of any of his clothes, spring out into the air. lie poised his body, and the dive was perfect—one of the swallow variety. He disappeared after ho came to the surface, hut was later found clinging to one of the fonder piles Mrs Bridger. of Portsmouth Road, Cosham. Hants, has just been married to Mr Williams, of Oopnor, Portsmouth. She is 74 years of age. and the bridegroom is himself a septuagenarian. Mr Williams is the fifth husband of Mrs Bridger
