DROWNED IN A WELL. Per Pre<w Association. DUNEDIN, Nov. ’JO. The body of Mrs Dllnu. wile of Mr George Dunn, a carpenter, was found in ti well at Kaitangata, near her residence, at 7..30 a.m. to-day. Death is supposed to be accidental. Deceased was •)2 years of age.,,

About noon to-day a ' yorlig man found a man’s .coat oh hj fence, at St. Clair, and a message close I).V. indicating the writer’s intention to commit suicide. On looking over the cliff lie saw a body upright in the water. Constahle Sohrufl'er, who hastened to the spot, also saw the body, which sank soon afterwards. It is believed the body is that of William Scarlett, who escaped from Ashburn Hall a few days ago- _____ Air David Gray, a resident of Wellington. met \dith ..a .serious .-accident while shooting between Rorirna and Titahi Bay on Tuesday afternoon. Air Gray’s gull was accidentallydischarged, and he received the charge in his head. He was taken to the Wellington hospital in an unconscious and critical condition. ’ Another stabbing affray occurred at Wellington on Tuesday night, the victim being a returned soldier, Hugh Walker, who is single, and the alleged assailant being a Hindu named Jose Alendo/.a. It is stated Walker took the Hindu to his home, and, that about 10.30 p.m. thorp arose a quarrel, during which Walter was attacked with a knife. Alendoiyi, minus his shoes and coat, appeared.; at the Alagistratc’s Court yesterday morning on a charge ol assaulting Waijcer so as to cause him actual bodily harm. ■ Tlie police informed tlie Court that Walker was pretty badly cut ahout with the knife, having one wound three or four inches long, and another two or three inches in length. Mendo/.a was remanded until Wednesday next.
