FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
The first of this season's series of social evenings held under tho auspices of the Man aw at u Friendly Societies passed off successfully last night in the Empire Hall. Dancifig was indulged in and kept up till a late hour. The nmsic'was supplied by Bro. H. Spencer, and tho M.'sC. were Bros., 11. S. Wat' son and 0. B. Harris. During the evening opportunity was taken by Bro. H. Sharnian to appeal for the support of Bro. F. Pycroft, who as the nominee of the local friendly societies would contest tho irext"Palrherston North Hospital Hoard election. 'ln a brief speech Bro. Pycroft said that-it was time the societies were represented on the Board, If elected he would endeavour to'do his best for the societies and.the working man in general. (Applause.)
