Fboix Ocb Own Cobbestondeni. OTAKI, Nov. 27. Corp. G. M. Lethbridge, who was expected to arrive in Otuki at an early date, does not, now expect to leave England for some time yet. Six o’clock closing for the sale of liquor comes into force on Saturday night, and will remain in force during the continuation of the war and for six months thereafter. As a deal of tlio liar trade is done after 6 p.m., hotels generally will feel the restriction. In Otaki there are live hotels, all of which will be affected. The action of the Railway Department in increasing fares and freights is being severely criticised locally, it being held that loss revenue will bo derived than Informer methods. Mr Frank Bennett, surveyor, lias been busy for (lie past few days taking levels of the Otaki streets, and hopes to complete his work within a day or so. The Otaki Town Board will then consider die matter of street improvement. Flight-Lieutenant J. W. H. Scotland,, who made u successful flight at Otaki about three years ago, was married at Wellington on Thursday to Miss Ivy Stewart, of Wellington. Scotland, it will Ixi remembered, was invalided home from Mesopotamia, where ho served for 18 months. A quiet wedding was solemnised at Waikanuo on Thursday, when Miss Eileen Austin, daughter of Mr J. A. Austin, of Waikiiinio, was married to Air J. H. Kendrick. Lieut. Earl was best man. while the Rev. J. F. Jones was the officiating clergyman. Among those reported wounded is L.Gorpl. George Guy, son of Mr J. Guy, of llautere Cross.
