WANGANUI SHOW.

THE CHAMPIONSHIPS,

The Wangatiui Show, which opened yesterday, showed an increase of 748 over last year's entries. The figures are 2300 on this occasion, acraiirst 2052 last show. A remarkable increase is shown in.the home industries section. Last year there were only 199 entries, this year there are 938. Horses and cattle and sheep came forward, in re duped'numbers this year, a fact which whs easily attributable io the condition the Dominion is now passing through. Ajnongst the draughl horses, Mrs J. D. Ormond's exhibits divided the awards, with 11. Middletoii's. E. Short (Parorangi) won the ma.iden hack class, up to 12 stone. The principal prize-taker in the fa I cattle was T. A. Duncan. The Shorthorn prizes fell to Dalziell Bros., the Ayrshircs to W. 11. Caincs. and Milking Shorthonis to JHodges. S. Bolton, and W.'J. Co.ipet. There was better -'compel it ion amongst, the Jer;spysj and the awards were more evenly distributed. Very little competition took place amongst the Fricsians. In the- Lincoln sheep well-known breeders in Mrs J. J). Orrooiul and W. Rnyner were to the lore. Mrs Ornirind 'cooped the Border: Leicester class. J. Knight (Feildinc;) and \V. Bayner were tho principal winners ■ among-.!. ' the Pommy Marsh sheep. The dogs were a strong feature of the show THE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Following are the championships awarded : i "... . CATTLE.
