SHANNON.

(From Odr Own Correspondent.) A quiet but pretty wedding took place at the Basilica, Hill street, Wellington, last. Thursday morning, when Corporal Jack McCarthy, of the NC.O. class at: Trontham Camp, formerly of Shannon, and Miss Nancy Wood, also of Shannon, were united in marriage. The bridegroom was attended by Private H. Rasmussen, and the bride was given away by Mr James Gurraii. of Shannon. The bride was_ neatly attired in a dove-grey costume, with hat to match, and carried an ivory-covered Prayer Book. The bridesmaids, Miss Kitty Reid and little Miss Lalla Oben, looked very nice in their silver grey and white silk frocks respectively. The wedding breakfast was partaken of at the Shamrock Hotel, and the usual toasts honoured. The bridegroom leaves in a few days for the front. At the sale of the Richardson’s estate, by Abraham and Williams, the homestead and 20 acres were sold to Mr J, Richardson at £72 per acre. A very pleasant ladies’ night was arranged bv the local Druids, and took the form of a progressive euchre party and Ranee. Prizes for the euchre wore won by Mrs A. C. Hillier. J. Lee and W T . Quarric. The music for the dance was supplied by Bros. B. Spencer and H. E.
