ENGINEER'S REPORT. No. 1 Line Drain.—The cleaning out of this drain has;been completed, 42 chains being done,during the month. at 2s per chain tor (ho. total of ■ 192 chains. Huglie-V Drain.- —The cleaning out of this drain was! completed, the tola! length luring IdS chains-, of ; which 23 chains were clone during the month at: 2s-9j.il P°, r fJiain.. No. -'1 Line Drain : (Saunders’). —27 chains: of tins,drain was; cleaned out during the month, at. 3s-3d per chain. Mangaono River.—As arranged, aii inspection of this river from outlet to Rangitikei lino; was.;made .by myself and members of the Board interested early in the month,: and it was-found to he in' fair order. A day: party- of throe -men has .since been employed; cutting buck willows, repairing stop-banks,' removing snags, and other obstructions from the stream, the expenditure for,’the month amounting to £l2B 9s 7d. „ _ ■ ■ Private, Crossing, No. 1 Line. —Two' notices having .been sent to Mr \\ieks. asking him to have the. pipes in )ii s private, crossing over No. 1 Line drain replaced; by ones of larger diameter, and land' at a. lower level, and having been ignored, the crossing was removed by your Board’s men. ■ •
