EFFIENCY TRUSTEES.

At yesterday's meeting of the Eflioieney Trustees a letter was received from the chairman of the National Efficiency Board, stating that as a, result of representations made”bv Sir Joseph Ward, the London Postal Department has now relaxed its prohibition in favour of cablegrams addressed “TVnakoutu,” London, and such cablegrams will now be received and delivered. A loiter was received from lire District Commissioner of the National Efficiency Board, .dating that on several occasions appeal* had been received from owners of traction engines, asking for exemption for their drivers; the shortage of certificated engine-drivers lias caused some serious difficulties in-some part* of the Dominion. The Hon, G. W. Russell, Minister for Marine, had, therefore, notified the Board that if it was desired to employ unecrtifieated men to drive traction engines the attention of the local Inspector of Machinery should be drawn to the matter,- when he would at once arrange to report to the -secretary of the Marino Department as t-o -whether lie confide red the" man who Inul been selected to till the position was competent to do so. If he was considered competent, the necessary permission would bo granted without delay.

The Efficiency Trustees have been advised bv (he Defence Department that reservists ui'o now classed as follows:—A, lit; HI, sent Vo Tump or hospital for observation; H2, deferred for medical examination; f.T, sent to special rump with object of fitting for service; C2, home service, not called up; D unlit.
