I (From Odr Own Correbpondent.) OTAKI, Nov. 5. At the lust sitting of the Levin S.M, Gourt Mat iSulian was charged with having unlawfully exposed liquor for sale on Sunday, October 21. D. Hannan and A. Barnett were charged with being found on licensed premises on the same date, ( onstable Hague gave evidence of haying called at the hotel, and on hearing voices, knocked, but was admitted for two minutes. The slide leading into the bar was open, while Damian, who was under the influence of liquor, said he would make his explanation to the Magistrate. For the defence it was alleged the bar was opened by Mrs Sulian as she passed out from the office, and that Barnett was in Ihe hotel for the purpose ot getting a tobacco pouch which he had lost and which Sulian had found. The Magistrate gave the licensee the benefit of the doubt, the other two defendants were each lined 10s and costs 7s. Annie Doogan was similarly charged, while George Banks was charged with being illegally on licensed premises. The S.M. dismissed the case against Mrs Doogan, hut fined Banks 40s and costs.
