(Pee Press Association.) INVERCARGILL Nov. 2. In response to a request from the District Labour Council, the Mayor convened a public meeting, which was attended by about .it hundred people to-night, to discuss the ; increase in the cost of living. A resolution | was carried that the meeting views with alarm the continued increase in the cost of living, which is a national calamity, making j for the inefficiency and physical degenera- , tion of the present and future generations , of workers, and calling upon the Government to make reductions in order that the efficiency of the workers and rising generation may be assured and maintained NAPIER.
