MILITARY SERVICE BOARD.
The Fitst Wellington Military Service Board opened its sittings at the Magistrate's Court this morning. Sir 1). G. A ( Cooper (chairman) presided, and with him were Messrs I). McLaren and W. Perry. Captain Walker represented the Defence Department. FARMER'S APPEAL. Francis Dalton, farmer. Sandon Block (Mr Oakley), appealed on the grounds of undue hardship Appellant, stated that he ran 1200 sheep on his own farm and about 60 cattle, lb' also managed another farm for Dr. Pope. which carried 1000 sheep and 52 head of cattle. His brother, who had previously managed Dr. Pope's farm, was now on active service One brother had been killed in action and three other brothers "ere either in camp or at the front. Witness had enlisted but had been rejected. The appeal was adjourned sine die. UNLISTED TWICE. Ernest Murray Kilgour.Jarm hand, Kairanga, had Ids appeal reheard. Appellant stated that lie was married last year. lie had previously been rejected twice, ;nd asked to be put in the Second Division.— The appeal was dismissed, appellant being granted leave till 16th January. A TILELAYER'S APPEAL. William Wilson, tilclayer, Palmerston North., appealed for time to finish his contracts. Appellant stated thai- he was working on the public conveniences and_ borough swimming baths, and expected to finish the contracts by January. The work had been held up by the shortage of material. All his other brothers were at the front.-lie was granted leave till 13th February.
