N.Z. MILKING SHORTHORN ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting of the _ Now Zealand Milking Shorthorn Association was held yesterday at the oflice oi the .secretary (Mr Hunter). The prosideiu (Mr Harbor) was in the chair, and there was a large attendance oi members. An apology was received from Mr Wright. , . , The annual report congratulated the members on the successful year's working. The membership is now over iiOO, with 2700 animals registered in volume 2 of the Herd Book. .Seventy-seven new members were enrolled during the year. The amalgamation with the AYaikato Dairy Shorthorn Association has been completed, and only requires confirmation. The linking up of the two Associations resulted in the Connoil deciding to open up volume 3 ol the Herd Hook. It is pleasing to note, thai a number of A. and 1\ Associations include classes for milking Shorthorns. The. Council allotted specials tor Manawatu, Dannevirke, and New Plymouth. The finances show a very satisfactory position. The receipts for the year annulled to £605 17s 6(1. and the expenditure to £209 18s 0.1; CSOO has l,een invested in the War Lean and I'M 7s Id will lie carried forward. The report was adopted. j|' r ft, H. Brown moved that the action of the Council in opening volume. 3 of the Herd Book for non-pedi-«.ree female cattle be endorsed.—Carried. , , . Mr riuiek moved that the proposal ot the Council to amalgamate, with the Waikato Association bo endorsed.—Carried. On the motion of Mr .1. Hodges, it was decided that the Council ol the Association be increased to nine members, excluisve of president and two vice-presidents, and that the Waikato district be entitled to two representatives. ft was also decided that n sub-provin-cial executive he set up for Auckland province, with Hamilton as a centre, and sub-executives be set tip for Taranaki. Marlborough, and other districts on application. The retiring president (Mr Barber) was accorded n hearty vote of thanks lor his past services,
