CONFERRED ON NEW ZEALANDERS. Cable advice has been received by Base Records giving names of New Z<ea-< landers who have had war honours conferred upon them. Barrow, Military Medal, on active service (0. Barrow, To Puke, f.). 26/934 Sergt.'W. V. Worth Military Medal, on active service (W. .ti. Worth, Helensville, f.). 18 999 Sergt. W. A. Thomas, Military ' Medal. Royal Welsh Fusiliers, not N Z.E.F. 9583 Be. J. 8011, Military Medal, not N.Z.E.F. A BRAVE ANZAC. New Zealand has some interest in the award of a V.C. to Sergeant Whittle. Apparently ho was not with the SScw Zealanders, because his name, has never come to us by cablegram, but for many years he lived in N.Z. He was> an employee of Mr R. W. Smith, M.P., whose employ he left about five years ago. Mr Smith describes him as "a fine, manly fellow, an excellent man in every way. Sergeant Whittle has also won the D.O.M. in this war.
