Private Stewart, who arrived in Otaki this week, enlisted in Wellington,, and left with (ho 11th Ucinforoomenls. After three weeks in Egypt he left for France, where, ifter four months of arduous service, he received a gunshot wound in the eye, which completely destroyed the sight. This was while engaged in the Somme, offensive, lie, was eight days in hospital in France, ifter which he was two months in (he Second Loudon General Hospital, two at Hornchurch, live at Walton-on-i hames, •ind finished up with three .months at he Torquay 'Discharge Depot.
