Six thousand seven hundred delegates to the Sinn Fein Convention met at the Mansion House, Dublin, including many young priests. The Convention unanimously adopted a provisional constitution creating an independent Irish Republic, pledging the meeting to make use of any and every means to render England's power impotent. The Sinn Fein Conference passed a resolution that Ireland should present a claim for restitution and reparation from Englandl at the Peace Conference, also recommended the Irish Trade Unions to sever affiliation with the English unions. The Countess Markievicz's opposition to tho election of MacNeil to the executive cau.sed a scene. She declared he spoilt the Easter rebellion plans. Mntross Clarke, widow of the executed rebel, also condemned MacNeil amid excitement, but his election was carried,
